Music at Micah
Music plays an important role in all of our services. Teddy Klaus is our music director and serves as a choir conductor and accompanist. Meryl Weiner is our cantorial soloist. The music is intended to enhance the liturgy of the service.
Choirs
Monthly Musical Kabbalat Shabbats
Once a month (typically the third Friday of each month during the school year), the music at our Kabbalat shabbat services is enhanced by the Temple Micah Mini Pickup Band. We usually feature flute, violin, clarinet, and percussion. Rehearsals are the Thursday before each service from 6:40-7:20 pm.
Shabbat Shirah
This is our annual Shabbat music extravaganza. Including our Temple Micah orchestra.
Community Choir Festivals
Singers from Temple Micah participate in a variety of community adult and youth choir festivals each year. On March 19 & 20, 2005, singers from Temple Micah performed two concerts at Strathmore Hall with the combined choirs of the greater Washington metropolitan area in recognition and celebration of the 350th Anniversary of Jewish settlement in America. The next Choral Festival is scheduled for March 2, 2008 at Strathmore in celebration of the 60th anniverary of the founding of the State of Israel.
